Biography of Jerry Mangelschots
Jerry Mangelschots, a Belgian artist, has crafted a multidisciplinary career spanning over two decades, showcasing his expertise in painting, sculpture, and graphic arts. His journey began in the early 1990s with formal training in graphic design at St. Lucas Antwerp (1991-1992). However, his passion for visual arts soon led him to study painting under the guidance of Hans Bruyneel at the Hoboken Academy (1997-2004). Mangelschots further expanded his artistic practice by exploring sculpture (2005-2006) at the same institution, where he worked with Raf Vergauwen.
Seeking to refine his expression in printmaking, Jerry embarked on an in-depth exploration of free graphics at the Merksem Academy (2006-2011) under the mentorship of Goedele Peeters. This diverse educational background allowed Mangelschots to create artworks with a unique blend of disciplines, characterized by a deep sensitivity to form, texture, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow.
